Applications are invited for a temporary position of UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within the UCD School of Computer Science.
University College Dublin has secured funding under the Department for Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE) Disruptive Technology Innovation Fund (DTIF) to establish a new viewing platform of the Earth designed for non-specialist users. The CAMEO (Creating an Architecture for Manipulating Earth Observation data) project aims to democratize access to an ever-increasing volume of Earth Observation data in order to develop a sustainable Earth Observation service sector in Ireland.
CAMEO will provide a new way to access international EO/UAV/terrestrial sensor data and mechanisms to combine with national climate, agriculture and marine databases to unlock real and tangible potential for the Irish industry, the public sector and researchers. CAMEO will make Ireland an international leader in using EO data for economic and societal purposes. Members of this project consortium, led by UCD, include Vertice Integration Services Ltd T/A Vertice Cloud, BCC Risk Advisory Ltd T/A Edgescan, The Icon Group Ltd, Treemetrics Ltd, TechWorks Marine Ltd and Dell Technologies.
This is a research-focused role, where you will conduct a specific research program supported by research training and development under the supervision and guidance of a Principal Investigator. The primary focus of the role is to further develop your research skills and competencies, including publication processes in peer-reviewed academic journals, development of funding proposals, mentorship of graduate students as well as the opportunity develop your research skills. directed instruction.
OT data encompasses a myriad of potential data sources and streams, including but not limited to satellites, drones, lidars, ground segments, and citizen derivatives. The CAMEO EO platform will deliver such diverse and rich datasets through storage and access functionality; cataloging and research; data processing and analysis; visualization; Secure authentication and authorization through building a suite of microservices adopting the emerging de facto industry standard of Microservices Architecture (MSA). Additionally, this role will contribute to the design and development of microservices and accompanying CAMEO user interfaces.
Wage scale: €39,522 – €41,940 per year
Appointment within the above range will depend on qualifications and experience.
