Muscat: In line with the official inauguration of Duqm Port, Asyad Ports-Duqm is about to start operation and management of the general cargo terminal which includes three commercial berths in Duqm Port, in line with Asyad Group’s strategy aimed at improving the competitiveness of Omani ports and maximizing their investments and economic returns, as underpinned by Oman’s Logistics Strategy (SOLS 2040).
Asyad Terminals – Duqm, created through a partnership between Asyad Ports and the Port of Duqm, will manage and operate three quays in the Port of Duqm, which can accommodate the largest container ships and Very Large Crude Oil Carriers (VLCCs) to serve customers and business partners.
The first is a multi-purpose general cargo berth with a capacity of around 1 million TEUs per year, the second is a bulk berth with a capacity of around 5 million TEUs per year. year, while the third is a berth for ro-ro ships. . These quays will therefore absorb the expected growth in maritime traffic and cargo operations, accelerate trade through the port of Duqm with international ports, provide exporters and suppliers to local and global business communities with rapid solutions and respond to requirements of Sezad’s economic projects.
“This milestone, which translates the pillars and objectives of Oman Vision 2040, gives national operators priority to manage major Omani ports and associated logistics services, and optimize the use of port equipment and facilities to promote national exports and Oman’s economic growth,” said Sheikh Nasser Sulaiman Al Harthy, Chairman of the Board of Asyad Group.
Al Harthy also added that the management of Asyad Group is adopting a clear strategy to strengthen logistics investments and increase the operational efficiency of Omani ports, which would generate new prospects for international investment and trade companies and private Omani companies in this vital sector.

Duqm Port, officially opened in February 2022, is one of the most important and largest ports in the Middle East as it covers an area of 188 square kilometers and consists of 9 berths of 2.25 km long, 350 m wide and more up to 18 m deep. The Port of Duqm includes various industrial lands, an area of 2,000 hectares and logistics lands estimated at 1,000 hectares. It has an 8.7 km breakwater that rises 11 meters above sea level, in addition to a 4.6 km secondary breakwater.
