ACME signs pact with Japanese line NYK for ammonia transport, Energy News, ET EnergyWorld

New Delhi: ACME Group, based in Gurugram, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with NYK Line, based in Japan, for cooperation in the field of green ammonia. Pursuant to the MoU, NYK will become the strategic shipping partner for ACME’s green ammonia projects.

“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NYK Line, a major Japanese shipping company, which owns and operates a large fleet of vessels, including container ships, bulk carriers, VLCCs, LNG carriers, etc., and is actively engaged in environment-related activities, including the transport of hydrogen and ammonia,” said Rajat Seksaria, CEO of AMCE Group.

“As part of the cooperation, ACME and NYK will explore the possibility of offering green ammonia to customers around the world, with ammonia being supplied from projects developed by ACME and NYK will be the shipping partner. This is part of ACME’s continued efforts to establish itself as one of the world’s leading green ammonia players,” Seksaria added.

ACME is a sustainable energy company and works on the development of large-scale green ammonia projects. It has already commissioned a pilot project in Rajasthan, India and is developing a 1.2 MTPA green ammonia plant in Oman in phases with its JV partner Scatec.

NYK is a Japanese shipping company, which owns and operates a large fleet of vessels, including container ships, bulk carriers, VLCCs, LNG carriers, etc. The company is actively engaged in environment-related activities, including the transport of hydrogen and ammonia and the development of ships, which will run on an alternative fuel such as ammonia.

The MoU was signed by Rajat Seksaria, Group Managing Director of ACME and Akira Kono, Senior Managing Director and Managing Director of NYK Line’s Energy Division in Tokyo.
